Aleia Johnson

She/Her

Service Project: Great MN Schools,

Community Outreach Coordinator

Originally from Rochester, Minnesota, Aleia Johnson is a proud graduate of Carleton College. Bridging divides and strengthening civil dialogue is important to Aleia because she wants to continue to see exciting growth and change within her home state. In her opinion, one of the best ways to enact change is to find common ground amongst different individuals. Aleia is passionate about increasing educational opportunities for everyone, which is why she is super excited to serve with Move for America! A fun fact about Aleia is that she loves to find communities with shared hobbies and is now a Masters Swimmer after competing with the
Carleton College Varsity Swim Team in college.

Our Own House by Misterwives

I love this song because to me it sounds like the singer is following her
passions to create her “own house.” In my interpretation, her “house” represents a passion
project. The singer then follows this project to create her own original path in life. This song
inspires me to follow my own passions - even if they stray from the “norm”!

Shake it Out by Florence and the Machine

This song is all about preserving through difficult times and ultimately them off and continuing
on a more positive path. While obstacles and difficulties can provide amazing opportunities to
learn new skills, they can also be the sources of self doubt. This song reminds me to take the
lesson but shake out the self doubts. It also has some amazing vocals too!

Cheerleader by Omi

This song is upbeat and positive. It’s all about feeling supported and
excited by the people around you. I would like to continue to bring this
enthusiastic energy of supporting others to my future projects and events
with Move for America.
